2. Center-pin: Bar-Lock MBT couplers are manufactured with a removable center-pin for easy reference to the center of the coupler. As each bar is inserted into the coupler it will butt against the center pin providing the confirmation the rebar is inserted the proper distance within the coupler. The bar ends might not actually butt against one another.

The LENTON LOCK coupler features patented gripping technology that provides for the development of full rebar strength and improved overall structural integrity in tension, compression, stress-reversal and dynamic applications. This unique design allows the coupler to be smaller and more streamlined. LENTON LOCK couplers allow for easy and simple field installation since no bar-end preparation, sawing or swaging is necessary. The couplers can be installed with just a standard wrench, nut runner or an impact wrench depending on coupler size. The bolt heads will shear off when proper installation tightness has been reached, which allows for completely visual inspection. The completed connection performs similar to a continuous piece of rebar.
BarLock's patented couplers are available in two versions, the S-Series and the longer L-Series. Bar-Lock couplers are manufactuered int he USA of seamless hot-rolled steel tube conforming to ASTM A-519 specification, with minimum tensile strength exceeding 100,000 psi. The couplers utilize a combination of lockshear bolts and heat-treated internal serrated rails to create a mechanical bond that exceeds industry requirements for mechanical butt splicing of rebar.
