Les Bijoux takes place in a fantasy world where the ruling class, the Habits, brutally oppress the commoners, the Spars. A strange child is born to a dwarf and a hunchback. The child has the ability to transform from male to female-- when female, she is called Lazuli; when male, he is called Lapis. When a cruel Habit lord named Diamond murders Lapis Lazuli' s family, s/he vows revenge and decides to overthrow the tyrannical overlords.

Don’t trip on your way down the black stairs, which are surrounded by black brick walls, hidden down a hallway, and past countless doors to make it into Bijoux, located underneath the restaurant Merkato 55. Getting in is not easy feat if you don’t know one of the Haitian owners (speak French? Might help at the door), whom you’ll likely come across in the small space comprised of several low-ceiling rooms (basketball players can forget about this joint), with nothing more than scattered candles, a mirrored ceiling, and an over-sized chandelier that looks completely out of place considering the small space. After all the hassle it took to make it into Bijoux we were expecting a more interesting and good-looking crowd, but alas! This lounge harkened to basement parties, except with $18 cocktail and bottle service tables scattered throughout the rooms.

So I am thinking I kind of liked PM better than Bijoux.......definitely a cool hangout though, a good cross betwen a lounge and a club, with the same type of crowd that used to be at PM. The best part for me is the music, which is a good mix of everything from house to hip hop to eighties, etc.....I guess what I liked better about PM was the vibe was a bit more laid back, sometimes there is something to be said for just being chic without trying too hard.....
