Jan Beaney is one half of the fiber arts duo known as Double Trouble Enterprises. Jan (on the R) and Jean Littlejohn (on the L) are well known for their amazing surface design. They are in demand as teachers and lecturers and their self-published books are legendary treasures. Well, today I had the extraordinary pleasure of taking a class from Jan at The City Quilter. The class was described as follows:

My favorite book is not one book, but a series of books by Jan Beaney and Jean Littlejohn (aka Double Trouble Enterprises). Twenty-four titles cover a wide variety of unique quilting, surface design, machine embroidery, and mixed media techniques. Full of visual inspiration and unusual approaches, these books never fail to get my creative juices flowing and push me to look at sewing in a whole new light. Anything's possible!

Trees As A Theme is the seventh book of the popular series authored by Jan Beaney and Jean Littlejohn. This books covers using trees to help design images that reveal the textural and dimensional surfaces of tree from the rough pine to the smooth aspen. Contains many ideas for creative experimentation.
