Rank and badges, in addition to the last name and U.S. Air Force tapes, must match the color of the ABU fabric and are sewn on. Placement of rank insignia does not change from previous BDU placement. Specialized badges, such as aeronautical and occupational badges, can be worn on the uniform, but are not required. However, no more than three badges may be worn. Patches and command insignia are not allowed on the ABU uniform.

Military Patches are available for all the different units and ships of each branch of the armed forces. There are thousands of different patches from the US Army, US Navy, US Air Force, US Marines Corps and US Coast Guard. People looking for Military Patches not only include current servicemen and women using them for their uniforms, but also veterans and retirees looking to display their pride in the unit or ship they served on. There is also a large group of collectors who know that patches have great sentimental value and will be valuable to certain people. Military collection shows often feature large patch displays where one can trade or buy the patch that they have been looking.

This is a vintage selection of U.S. Military Air Force Rank Sleeve Patches. There are 13 different pairs or sets (not all matching) of them. Some are the same but different sizes or colors. The First and Master Sergeant along with the Senior and Chief Master Sergeant have 3 stripes on the bottom. The Senior Master Sgt. Stripes are different with subdued and dress uniform types. I found they were used from the 1970s to 1991. I found in 1991one stripe was taken off of the bottom of each and put on the top.
