The African elephant is a specific type of elephant that only lives in Africa, and is the largest land mammal on Earth. To make African elephant masks, you'll need gray construction paper, white paper plates, crayons, cotton yarn, a stapler, safety scissors and glue. Cut eye holes out of the paper plates before giving them to the children. Have the children cut elephant trunks and ears out of the gray construction paper and glue them to the centers of the masks. Crayons should be used to draw on features, such as the eyes of the elephant and its mouth. Tusks can be made with white or ivory construction paper, or by drawing them with crayons. Attach lengths of yarn long enough to fit each child's head by stapling it to the edges of their plates.
