I have been listening to Leigh Nashg's first solo recording (Blue On Blue) for the past couple of months, and it was no surprise to me that C"My Idea of Heaven" was chosen to be the first single off of the album. It has all of the elements of pop sweetness that brought NashS's former band, Sixpence None the Richer, to national attention in the late 90s. The hooky chorus comes immediately to mind every time I glance over at the CD case sitting on my desk, and I find myself singing along in my head and bouncing in my chair a little. Unfortunately, however, this song is one of few memorable tracks from the CD.

The album met mostly positive reviews upon release. It was received very well by Christian music reviewers. Nash's vocals, lyrics and music direction were lauded. Blue on Blue was criticized mainly because of the songs not being as immediately appealing as the ones released by Sixpence None the Richer. Collaborators on this album are Sixpence bandmate Matt Slocum, and the songwriting/production team of Rick Nowels and Billy Steinberg.

While in L.A., Nash penned a batch of songs that would eventually comprise her first solo record, Blue on Blue, which was released in August 2006 on One Son Records, Nash's own imprint label through Nettwerk Productions. During the record time of making Blue on Blue, Nash flew to Canada several times. The first single, My Idea of Heaven , was released to USA radio the week of 14 July 2006, and the song Ocean Size Love was to be the second single, but it was a promo release only. She has also recorded a song Mirrors and Smoke with the band Jars of Clay on their album Good Monsters the same year.

Tracks 2 and 3, Nervous in the Light of Dawn and My Idea of Heaven were previously released as a radio-bound EP, and stirred up interest in the upcoming Blue on Blue album among many Sixpence fans. The instrumentation is on the money from the acoustic guitar carrying Nervous in the Light of Dawn to the guitar hooks on Heaven. The backups are as smooth as LeighPrs"s lead vocals, and they serve to enhance the overall mood of many tender tracks. Heaven has received considerable airplay from the EP, and its hook gives the song a country-meets-pop flavor. The production here is first-rate, with perfect layers and an excellent mix.
