Authentic-looking U.S. Civil War uniforms are a must for re-enactors. These men and women re-enact battles, set up demonstration camp sites and do their best to teach the public about the era surrounding the Civil War time period. They have also been hired to appear in films when battle scenes are required. The movie Gettysburg was accomplished with the expert knowledge and actions of uniformed re-enactor groups. You will also want a uniform that has correct colors and style for a play, costume or display. Specialty companies produce Civil War historical uniform patterns, but you can piece together patterns that are found in general sewing supply stores to create a Civil War uniform.
Civil War blankets were made by Woolrich® and supplied to the troops from 1861 to 1865. Those were the blankets that the soldiers relied upon for warmth as they fought through long cold winters. Woolrich is currently manufacturing authentically reproduced versions of those blankets in the same colors and patterns as the originals. Clothing and Uniforms Most of our men's replica clothing and uniforms are made for us by the Quartermaster Shop, although some items are manufactured by us or elsewhere. The ladies and childrens attire is mostly made by us. Almost any style of clothing that was worn in the United States during the 19th Century (1800s) (starting from the 1820's on, including Victorian, Edwardian, American Civil War, Indian Wars. Old West and Spanish American War (Span-Am)) is available.
