Dan Hill Album Views
Hill was born in Toronto, the son of social scientist and public servant Daniel G. Hill, and brother of the author Lawrence Hill. He studied guitar in his teens, leaving high school at 17 to work as songwriter for RCA. At one point he was working for the Ontario provincial government, delivering office supplies, while performing at the Riverboat at night. In 1975, he released his first album, Dan Hill, which produced a Canadian hit single, You Make Me Want to Be .
Celine and the album's producers won the Album of The Year Grammy Award in 1996. In 1978, Dan Hill had his first smash hit, Sometimes When We Touch. Ten years later in 1988, Dan's Never Thought (That I Could Love) hit the top of the charts. Keeping with tradition, Dan again found himself with another number one record in 1998 when Sammy Kershaw recorded Dan's Love Of My Life. In fact, Dan's successes aren't just limited to every ten years, his remarkable career has highlights that include four number one songs, twelve top ten records, a Grammy, five Juno's (the Canadian equivalent to the Grammy), four platinum albums, two gold albums, and even a best selling novel.
