Madagascar is an animated film series produced by DreamWorks Animation. Voices of Ben Stiller, Jada Pinkett Smith, Chris Rock and David Schwimmer are featured in the films. The plot follows the adventures of story of four Central Park Zoo animals who have spent their lives in blissful captivity and are unexpectedly shipped back to Africa.

Frances McDormand will appear as the villain, an animal control officer. New characters being introduced include an Italian sea lion, a Russian tiger, and a Latina jaguar, though their ethnicities are subject to change.[5] Eric Darnell, who co-directed the first two films, will be the sole director for Madagascar 3 and Noah Baumbach will write the script. The film was originally slated for release on May 18, 2012,[5] but it is now set to be released on June 8, 2012.[6]

The Penguins of Madagascar is a television series that is currently airing on Nickelodeon. In a situation completely separate and apart from the Madagascar films, the series follows the adventures of the four penguins: Skipper (the leader of the group), Kowalski (the smartest), Rico (the craziest), and Private (the youngest) in New York City's Central Park Zoo. The penguins rule the roost at their Central Park habitat, carrying out secret missions in the heart of the city. At times, their missions beckon them to venture outside the zoo. King Julien, the primary antagonist, is also a resident of the zoo (though it is unknown how he, Maurice, and Mort got there) and the penguins must compete against him to maintain order in the zoo.

It was quite beautiful visually, but the plot was a real let-down - far below the calibre of many children's animated films. I also felt that Alex's carnivorousness was not explored very well - no long-term message or solution appeared. I mean what's so much better about eating fish than eating mammals?
