Grateful Dead The Golden Road Views
The Other One(s) -- The Warner Bros. YearsIf you're a younger Deadhead or a taper, this is The Other One -- a chance to hear the best of the Grateful Dead's studio work from the Warner Bros. years. The enhanced audio is awesome and the additional live and archival material rounds out hours of listening adventure. I can't tell you how great the Live Dead symphony, Dark Star, St. Stephen, The Eleven and Turn on your Lovelights, sounds in HDCD. Not to mention what David Gans terms the gems, Workingman's Dead and American Beauty. What an opportunity to discover The Dead as did many of us non-San Francisco first-generation deadheads did in the late 60s and early 1970s -- first from their recordings and then, wow, live. Jump on. Dive in. Sop up every drop as you journey down the golden road to unlimited devotion. Submitted by jeffadler (Long Beach, CA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
When “Tales From The Golden Road,” the new roundtable discussion/audience participation program, debuted on Sirius Satellite Radio’s wildly popular Grateful Dead Channel in January, listener response was immediate and positive — so much so that Sirius quickly decided to turn the monthly show into a weekly one, beginning March 2nd. Every Sunday, hosts David Gans and Gary Lambert will interview guests in the studio and by phone, and take questions and comments from listeners on a wide variety of subjects of interest to the Dead Head community.
Sunday, March 16th will bring a welcome visit from a great musician and an old pal, Mark Karan, who will bring along some of his favorite music, talk about his experiences as a longtime Dead Head who got to play Grateful Dead music with some the guys who created it, his recent triumph over a serious health scare, and his impending return to life on the road with Bob Weir and RatDog.
Our friends at Sirius XM have kindly provided some clips from their roundtable discussion program, Tales From The Golden Road, featuring expert hosts David Gans and Gary Lambert. The weekly show tackles everything from watershed years to concert counter culture and calls upon a dynamic cast of characters - including band members themselves - to uncover the Dead's most pivotal and poignant moments. And perhaps most importantly, David and Gary take time to talk you, the fans!
