Life (ライフ, Raifu?) is a shōjo manga series created by Keiko Suenobu, a manga creator well known for her work on Vitamin and Happy Tomorrow. Life was serialized in Bessatsu Friend, a publication of Kodansha, and deals with many controversial topics such as self-mutilation, bullying, rape, suicide, and manipulation. In 2006, it won the Kodansha Manga Award for shōjo.[2]

Bolstered by her featured appearance on MTV in 2006, the Second Life musician known as Keiko Takamura is one of SL's first breakout performers who started her career in-world. I've been a fan for much of that time, digging her smart, alt-geek writing skills (as in this song inspired by BioShock) and her ability to rock it well in both worlds (as in her mixed reality set at SLCC 2009 with her band, The Shebangs.) After many years of hard work, she and the Shebangs are finally ready to record their first EP album, but studio space is damn expensive -- especially if you're doing it where folks like Modest Mouse and Elvis Costello have recorded, as they are. To cover those costs, Keiko is holding a huge, one week live music fundraising extravaganza in Second Life, helped out by a lot of other musicians. But maybe I should let her explain the deal herself:

In the Paradise Kiss live action movie, Keiko Kitagawa (北川景子)(Pretty Guardian Sailormoon, Buzzer Beat) will play the role of the main character, Hayasaka Yukari, a high school student who is tired of the meaningless and repetitive life that has been forced upon her by her uptight mother; while Osamu Mukai (向井理)(Hotaru no Hikari 2, BECK) play as Joji Koizumi, an eccentric, handsome, and extremely charismatic student of Yazagaku who has extraordinary talent with a gift for fashion design. The film is due for release in Japan in May 2011.
