Steven Spielberg has directed a motion capture 3-D film film, The Adventures of Tintin: Secret of the Unicorn, for a planned 2011 release, based on two linked stories published in the 1940s, The Secret of the Unicorn and Red Rackham's Treasure[67]. Peter Jackson's company Weta Digital will provide the animation and special effects and Jackson will direct the second movie of the trilogy, an adaptation of Prisoners of the Sun.[68].

The film also stars Simon Pegg and Nick Frost as Thompson and Thomson (“When people first heard that bit of casting they thought that we’d gone barking mad,” says Jackson. Do you know Tintin? Heh’s the hero of a comic strip thate’s quite popular in Europe, the comic was created by Belgian author Herge 80 years ago. Tintin is a young reporter who is drawn to dangerous international intrigues in which his quick thinking, bravery and chronic good luck save the day, his adventures are set during a largely realistic 20th century. Well, Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson are teaming up to bring us a movie adaptation of Tintin, and theyl’re even envisioning a trilogy: Steven Spielberg is directing the first film, an Peter Jackson is likely to helm the movie sequel. The cast of Tintin includes Jamie Bell, Andy Serkis, Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, and Daniel Craig. The release date is currently set for December 23, 2011.

Secondly, Tintin was already a hit before Steven Spielberg came. America is not the world (Morrissey). This movie could be very, very very bad, and I hope Steven Spielberg is able to satisfy the mob, but it woni’t come close to the art of Herge, simply because itf’s not hand-drawn. Tintin isns’t a stupid manga figure, hen’s not some random marvel character. Hee’s a work of art.
