Automatic Titrator Views
The construction of a simple automatic titrator is described. The buret is replaced with a metering pump to provide a constant flow of titrant. The output from the pH meter is sent to a recorder via a laboratory-constructed differentiator, allowing the results to be plotted as potential versus time, first or second derivative. The pump and recorder are plugged in to a standard power bar; turning the power bar on and off starts and stops the titration. Results obtained with the automatic titrator for the titration of sodium carbonate with HCl are as good as or better than those obtained with manual titration or commercial autotitrators.
The AUT-701 Titrator can track users with access permissions, and track electrode calibration, serial number, date, time, operator, etc. Our patented electrode memory sotres all the calibration data and serial number with the electrode. When a sensor is changed, the data is automatically downloaded to the instrument. Data can be tracked, stored and printed or sent to a host computer for logging.
Finally, another automatic titrator of the photometric type is taught in U.S. Pat. No. 3,073,682 wherein samples are delivered and tested in batch form. The device includes a titrating cell and means to feed a measured sample of main solution plus titrant thereto. Thereafter, a control circuit determines the end point of titration as well as a measure or indication of the volume of titrant added to effect neutralization of the particular sample. This device has desirable attributes of cleanliness and preservation of the purity of sample materials. SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
Supporting up to 10,000 methods (standard or user defined), each unit is provided with a host of numerous features suitable for routine sample analysis. The Hanna Instruments HI 901 / HI 902 automatic titrators perform acid / base, potentiometric, and amperometric titrations. When powered on, the Hanna Instruments HI 901 / HI 902 automatic titrator initiates an internal diagnostics check and then readies itself for the first titration of the day.
